Who We Are

Dat Nguyen

Founder & CEO 📍 Irvine, California & Hanoi, Vietnam

Founder and CEO of Black Gibbon. Previously Venture CTO at Boston Consulting Group, Digital Ventures, where he built and managed a team of elite software engineers to launch and scale innovative ventures for the world's most iconic brands.

Before BCG, Dat spent 3 years in Vietnam running several tech startups and teaching Computer Science at RMIT University, Saigon campus. He also organized an English book club and public speaking community for locals.

Prior to Vietnam, he was a software engineer in Silicon Valley — working for ATK (acquired by Northrop Grumman), NASA, and Unspam (acquired by Cloudflare).

Duc Ngo

Part-Time Tech PM 📍 Silicon Valley, USA

Senior Software Engineer at Google (Adwords group) and part-time technical project manager for Black Gibbon.

Before Google, Duc was a senior engineer at Facebook and Addepar. He's a World Finalist (ACM-ICPC) and Bronze Medalist (IOI) — among the best competitive programmers globally.

A decade ago he founded VNOI (Vietnamese Olympiad in Informatics), a thriving community that's still running strong today.

Tuyen Luu

Team Leader 📍 Hanoi, Vietnam

Handles day-to-day operations including recruiting, managing, system architecture, and everything in between to ensure successful project implementation and delivery.

Before Black Gibbon, Tuyen spent many years as a software consultant with enterprise clients across Asia, North America, and Europe. His highlight was leading a complex, 10-person, multi-year healthcare software project for a major Japanese hospital client.

Graduated with Honors from Hanoi University of Science & Technology (HUST) in computer engineering. Active in recruiting top talent from his alma mater.

Our 400+ human annotators are recruited primarily from disadvantaged communities across Vietnam — rural provinces, low-income urban families, and women with limited access to formal employment. Over 80% of our annotation workforce are women, many of whom are first-time earners in their households.
